The Rundown: Spider-Man is given a dangerous mission by the Sorcerer Supreme Doctor Doom.
Spider-Man finds himself facing off against a new villain in the city as he is given multiple tasks from friends and family. Tasks that get interrupted again when Doom makes an appearance to give Peter a challenge. A challenge he refuses from the new Sorcerer Supreme.
When a powerful creature descends on the city, Spider-Man finds himself forced to take Doom up on his offer to get the power he needs to bring down the creature. Unfortunately, the price for this new power might be too high.
The Story: I enjoy Kelly as a writer, but I am on the fence about this storyline. It’s entertaining seeing Peter dealing with his work\life balance issues and I am grateful that Mary Jane was nowhere to be seen in this story. I think the premise is interesting, but it is reminiscent of other stories I’ve read with other characters, but I am intrigued with this story and look forward to see what happens next.
The Art: I absolutely love McGuinness’ art in this issue. Not only are the character designs fantastic, but the action is visually stunning and impressive.
